Privacy Policy
ScreenGuard for iPhone · Effective 2 October 2026
Who is responsible
Martin Affolter, Zürich, Switzerland, the developer of ScreenGuard. Contact: support.screenguard@gmail.com.
What stays on your iPhone
- Screen Time access. ScreenGuard uses Apple's Screen Time framework (Family Controls) to block the apps and websites you choose. Apple only gives the app anonymous tokens for those apps; the developer cannot see which apps you chose or how you use them, and this data never leaves your device.
- Your settings and history. Your locks and their times, days off, lock history, Focus Score, streaks, blocked-app attempts and the name you enter are stored only on your iPhone, in storage shared between ScreenGuard and its widgets and extensions.
- Camera. If you use push-ups to unlock, the camera image is analysed live on your iPhone to count repetitions. No image or video is recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
- Insights. Insights and your coach note are worked out on your iPhone, from your own history. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Notifications are scheduled locally on your iPhone; no push server is used.
What leaves your iPhone
- Quotes. The short quotes on the blocked-app screen are built into the app. No request is made to load them (since version 1.3).
- Purchases. Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple. The developer receives no payment details and no personal information about buyers. See Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Crash reports. If you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and usage reports with the developer. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
What we don't do
No user accounts, no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, no selling or sharing of data, no profiling.
Deleting your data
Because your data exists only on your iPhone, deleting ScreenGuard removes all of it. Screen Time access can be revoked any time in Settings › Screen Time.
Children
ScreenGuard is a self-control tool for its own user and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU GDPR, you have the right to information, correction and deletion. Since no personal data is held by the developer, there is nothing to hand over or delete beyond what is on your device; questions are welcome at the address above.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date.
